Career Day offers PCMS students glimpse into future

Local community members and college admissions representatives made learning about colleges and careers come to life March 10 in the Polk County Middle School gymnasium. Eighth grade students were given the opportunity to visit with 30 presenters about different colleges and careers in the area.

Each year, college and career presenters make learning fun and educational with hands-on activities. Students were able to hold puppies at the Humane Society table, look at the weather patterns at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, spin a wheel for a prize at the Hometrust Bank table, identify scat at the N.C. Wildlife Commission table and try a cookie at the chef’s table, just to name a few.

PCMS is always looking for more educational and interactive career opportunities for Career Day. If you have a career that you would be interested in sharing with middle school students, please call one of the school counselors at 894-2215.
