Owl pellets provide research fodder for Saluda fourth graders

Students in Stephanie Uhrich’s 4th grade Science class enjoyed a day of discovery and learning using an interesting object – owl pellets.

The students have been studying animal adaptations, habitat loss due to environmental changes and food chains. To finish off the unit, the students dissected owl pellets.

While dissecting the owl pellets they learned to use scientific tools and record data. As they dissected the pellets, they matched the bones to discover what the owl recently ate.
