Polk County Middle offers open house for students, parents

PCMS principal Hank Utz talks to parents about the start of the school year and the goals and vision for the rest of the year.

Polk County Middle School families were invited Oct. 27 to attend open house at the school.

Students, parents and staff in attendance gathered in the auditorium to listen to school principal Hank Utz talk about the focus for the school year. Utz emphasized three major points as his vision for all students at PCMS:

  • Giving students a foundation of knowledge and skills to be prepared for the next level of education
  • Giving students the skills to be productive in the 21st century, including the use of technology and self-directed learning
  • An awareness of our place in a global society both in our nation and throughout the world.

All families were able to visit classrooms and hear from teachers about the progress for the start of school and what the rest of the semester and school year would look for their students. The book fair was also held in the library.
