Three Polk County band students – Ellie Booth, Jacob Grigg and Taylor Warren – have earned the honor of performing in the Western North Carolina All District Clinic Band.
The students earned this honor by auditioning in front of three to four judges from around the state. They had to play seven scales, a solo piece and sight read for a total audition score. The top scores from each instrument section were selected for each grade level band.
Booth is a seventh grader and Grigg an eighth grader at Polk County Middle School. Warren is a sophomore at Polk County Virtual Early College.
The clinic band weekend was Feb. 12-13 at Western Carolina University. Each band worked with and was conducted by a guest clinician from around the United States, giving the students an opportunity to work with great conductors and other students with wonderful talent.
