Saluda’s Gordon receives scholarship for UNC basketball camp

Saluda Elementary’s Cole Gordon, son of Josh and Jaclyn Gordon, received an all-expense paid scholarship from Touchstone Energy to attend The Roy Williams Basketball Camp this summer at the University of North Carolina.

Each year, North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives accept applications from rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders at qualifying schools in North Carolina for an all-expense paid scholarship to The Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Applicants are judged on their academics, extra-curricular activities and an essay that must accompany the application.

Each year, a total of 26 scholarships are awarded across the state of North Carolina as each Touchstone Energy cooperative in the state awards one scholarship to a young man in their local area each year. Recipients receive an all-expense paid scholarship to the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from June 18 – 22, 2016.

Campers will work closely with the college coaches and camp staff to develop fundamental skills, helping the young athletes perform and excel both on and off the court.
