Community Foundation awards more than $200,000 in scholarships to Class of 2016

Since 1975, the Polk County Community Foundation has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for all in our community. Assets managed by the Community Foundation now exceed well over $50 million. The Foundation receives charitable donations of all sizes from community members and then distributes grants to local nonprofits and educators, as well as scholarships to students.

Polk students pay campus visit to UNC Chapel Hill

A group of 32 sophomores and juniors from Polk County Early College and Polk County High School toured on April 20 the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Under a Carolina blue sky, the group visited campus landmarks, spotted future NBA stars, enjoyed two dining halls and spoke with admissions counselors.

Early College’s Loman selected to attend Space Camp
