Sunny View teachers granted $1,000 via Walmart reward program

Sam’s representative Julie Mills congratulates Sunny View principal Kevin Weis.

Teachers at Sunny View Elementary School were recently blessed with a special reward from Sam’s Club in Spartanburg.

The school was chosen as part of Walmart’s Teacher Rewards program, which is designed to help offset the money that teachers spend out of their own pockets for classroom supplies during this back-to-school season.  This year, the sixth annual Teacher Rewards program will provide up to $4.5 million dollars to 90,000 teachers across the United States.

Sunny View’s portion of that totaled $1,000.  Twenty teachers received $50 Teacher Rewards cards that can be used to purchase classroom supplies, snacks, and any other items needed for the classroom.

Julie Mills, Sam’s Club representative, came to the school and awarded the gift cards.  She also brought cake and soft drinks for a celebration. The school would like to express our gratitude to Sam’s Club for this special honor, and acknowledge their generosity in giving back to the local community.
