Polk County High School senior Chan Barber took part in the South Carolina Commissioners School for Agriculture, held July 28-30 at Clemson University.
The SCCSA program is designed to prepare tomorrow’s leaders for careers in industries such as agricultre or natural resources. During the three days, attendees learned about academic and career opportunities, current issues and research and personal and leadership skills.
To be selected for the program, Barber had to complete an application process that included a five-minute video about “Who I Am.”
One of the concluding events of the three-day class was a debate about topics related to agriculture. Barber finished as the runner-up in the debate competition.
