Lt. Col. Charles Ayers and cadets from Burns High School’s Air Force JROTC program visited Polk County Middle School on November 2 to share information on aviation with students in the school’s STEM class.
Lt. Col. Ayers and the cadets – Carly Brackett, Shan-asia Rodgers and Lucio Chavez – shared information on flight controls through use of a model airplane and then took students outside to pilot a drone.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students in future classes were invited to visit Burns High School to take a test flight on their flight simulator as the school is only one in North or South Carolina to have an Aviation Honors Academy.
