ComMotion helps Polk summer students experience Latin culture through dance, music

Students in the Polk County Schools Summer Learning Program experienced the diverse cultures of Latin America through dance and music

Students in the Polk County Schools Summer Learning Program experienced the diverse cultures of Latin America through dance and music.

ComMotion – Community in Motion, a non-profit from Raleigh that has been working with Polk County Schools for several years, provided a combination of in-person and video classes on traditional dances, music, geography, and fun facts.

The students learned about the Bachata from the Dominican Republic, the Salsa from Puerto Rico, the Cumbia from Colombia, and the Samba from Brazil. They also learned the dance routine to the powerful song “This is Me” from the movie The Greatest Showman.

All of the students came together for a performance for their teachers, and they did a wonderful job!
