A group of Polk County Middle School students gained a range of new skills this summer during the Summer Learning Program at PCMS.
Jennifer Taylor’s enrichment class offered students an opportunity to try a number of new activities. In the third week of the class, for example, students learned how to tie-dye clothes. With the help of T-shirts donated by Isothermal Community College, the students created some great designs using powder dye.
In the fifth week of the class, students started the week learning about garnish and plate presentation. The week included students making homemade hot fudge sauce, strawberry coulis, and whipping up fresh cream to design their plates.
That week ended with them designing their plates and then, of course, enjoying their hard work.
