Polk Central fifth graders spent March 12 at the Walnut Creek Nature Preserve in Sunny View studying force and motion.
Students built boats to float down Walnut Creek, tested the weight of their backpacks with and without a pulley, and observed motion in the movements of leaves, the flight of geese and the flow of water.
It was a day packed with the “forces” of nature, “motion” of hands-on learning and the joy of being outside with friends.
