First grade students at Saluda Elementary enjoyed an end-of-year STEM challenge involving pennies and boats.
Students were challenged to take 25 pennies and build a boat that would float.
Materials offered included small paper cups, small styrofoam noodles, popsicle sticks, masking tape and plastic wrap. Students worked individually, in pairs or in groups of three with safety protocols in place.
The students came up with many great designs with much success.
