In the wake of two days of auditions, the Foothills Music Club has announced its scholarship winners for the 2017-18 academic year, with six Polk County High School and Polk County Early College students receiving awards.
Foothills Music Club provides scholarships to qualified young musicians to encourage them to continue their musical studies. Applications are accepted from high school students who live in or attend school in Polk County, Rutherford County or Landrum. The financial award can be applied to the cost of lessons, purchase of music, attendance at music camp or the repair/purchase of instruments. In 2018, a total of $2,700 is being awarded.
Representing three counties, four area schools and home schools, several young musicians presented an impressive variety of vocal and instrumental solos to the judges. These performances, resulting in ties for the top four awards, were marked by a high degree of talent and accomplishment.
