Third graders at Polk Central are putting knowledge gained from a recent study of plants to good use through hands-on learning.
With the help of Helen Blackwell from Polk County Cooperative Extension, students recently planted seeds and watered them. To speed their growth, the plants have been placed under a fluorescent light.
Students are periodically checking and recording their plant growth as well as watering their plants. Students will use cotton swabs to pollinate the flowers that will sprout on their plants.
Seed pods will grow, which will culminate the plant study.
