Polk County Schools has partnered for several years with Jean Preston and family to sponsor the Buck Preston Future Writer Award Program for Polk County High School students.
Buck Preston was a former English teacher and department chair for Polk County High School. He impacted innumerable lives during his tenure as an English teacher and inspired many students to pursue writing creatively.
Vinca Hebbard is this year’s winner of the Buck Preston Future Writer Award. Her short story was selected for its creativity and demonstration of superior writing skills.
Hubbard will receive an award of $100 for her winning story.
