Throughout the past two years, nurses in Polk County Schools focused on COVID-19 response and worked tirelessly in our schools and community serving others.

In the summer of 2022, grant funding from Polk County Community Foundation allowed school nurses the rare opportunity to participate in the National Association of School Nurses’ Connecting Health Equity and Student Success Virtual Conference.

The grant funds enabled all school nurses to spend three days together in a retreat-like setting, participating in individual breakout sessions and group general sessions. The trainings were based on advancing the practice of school nursing, strengthening practice decisions and providing leadership in the implementation of quality health programs in the school community.

School nurses arrived at their individual schools refocused and ready to get back to the underlying mission of school health and supporting students, staff and families in their social and academic success during the 2022-2023 school year.
