Polk County Early College student Riley Lawter has been chosen as one of Isothermal Community College’s Students of the Semester for the fall 2019 term.
To receive this award, students must demonstrate positive interpersonal skills through cooperative learning and group interaction; use critical listening skills to understand, evaluate, and respond appropriately to verbal communication; develop an awareness of global issues and the interconnectedness and interdependence of persons, places, and events on earth from a current, as well as historical, perspective.
Lawter was chosen for this award because of her hard work, determination, generosity and ability to be a true friend to her peers. A senior at PCEC, Lawter is planning on attending Gardner-Webb University following her graduation.
ICC Vice President of Academics and Student Services Dr. Dolly Horton, came to the Polk County Early College campus in December and presented Lawter with the award in front of her friends and family.
