Polk County High School student Ben Hardin placed 12th in the state in the annual North Carolina FFA Tractor Driving Career Development Event, held January 31 at the James Hunt Arena in Raleigh.
More than 30 students from across the state competed in the event, which is designed to encourage the safe and appropriate use of farm tractors in an agricultural setting. Drivers must safely maneuver a tractor with a small trailer through a course with accuracy in the competition.
Hardin finished second among drivers in the Western FFA Region.
