The Nature Navigators, the official Polk County Middle School hiking club, has returned to the trails again for a third season.
On the roster this year are 20 students, with representation from all three grade levels for the first time.
Club members recently hiked the loop trail in Woodland Park in Tryon, with the hike led by Mark and Carol McCall. Max Howes from Conserving Carolina supported the large group as well and drove one of the vans.
Students had some extra time to search for salamanders in Woodland Creek and survey last year’s tornado damage.
