Students in Sherrie Ford’s fifth grade English Language Arts class at Polk Central Elementary have been listening to podcasts to learn more about the role of manifest destiny in American history.
Through the podcasts, students have learned how the concept of manifest destiny helped shape the mindset of Americans during the 19th century. During the team, many Americans felt it was destined for the nation to stretch from coast to coast, helping drive the settlement of the Western United States.
The podcasts and related activities help students use physical activities and their listening skills to teach concepts related to the fifth grade curriculum.
