Polk Cares 4 Kids fundraising celebration set for Feb. 1 at TIEC

Polk County Schools, in partnership with the Polk Schools Fund through the Polk County Community Foundation, will host Polk Cares 4 Kids (PC4K), a fundraising celebration, on February 1 at Tryon International Equestrian Center

The Polk Cars 4 Kids fundraising celebration will help provide funds for activities such as Science Olympiad competitions

Polk County Schools, in partnership with the Polk Schools Fund through the Polk County Community Foundation, will host Polk Cares 4 Kids (PC4K), a fundraising celebration, on February 1 at Tryon International Equestrian Center.

The event is an effort to raise proceeds to help offset the significant costs associated with extracurricular experiences, arts programming and athletics participation provided to students throughout the district at no charge to them or their families. Many school systems have reduced or eliminated funding for these types of programs and now charge fees for participation. Polk County Schools believes these activities should be available to all students without costs or barriers as these experiences deliver important knowledge and skills that positively impact the growth and development of our students.

All funds raised through the event will go into a general fund that will be used to support experiences such as Science Olympiad, Lego Robotics teams and other academic competitive teams as well as help with athletic expenses such as postseason trips.

The event is not only a fundraiser, but a celebration of the amazing arts and extracurricular programming opportunities Polk County Schools affords its students. Held at the Legends Club at TIEC, the evening promises to be enjoyable with great food, live musical entertainment and a chance to participate in silent and live auctions. Guests will be able to bid on gift packages, event tickets and larger items such as a used car from Stott’s Ford.

There are numerous ways to participate in PC4K. Interested businesses or organizations can sponsor a table at the event or donate items to be auctioned. Individuals and couples can buy tickets for the event that include access to the opening reception, dinner and drinks, silent and live auctions and live music. Donations to the general fund or specific programs are also welcome before, during or after the event.

Whether sponsoring a table or buying a ticket to attend, simply include a check or payment made out to “Polk County Schools – PC4K” and give that to the seller, or bring it to Aaron Greene or Jim Hemphill at Stearns Education Center in Columbus. Those who wish to make a donation but not attend the event can make a check out to the “Polk Schools Fund” at the Polk County Community Foundation with “PC4K” in the memo line. Anyone making a donation or buying a ticket will receive a letter verifying your sponsorship.

Businesses or organizations wishing to sponsor a table or provide donations for auctions should contact Jim Hemphill at 828-817-2955 or Aaron Greene at 828-817-0805. Individual and couples tickets are available for purchase at Stearns Education Center, Polk County High School and Polk County Middle School.
