Polk Central Elementary fifth graders created biome dioramas as part of a project that spanned both their art and regular classrooms.

Biomes are geographic areas that contain multiple ecosystems. There are five major types of biomes: aquatic, grassland, forest, desert and tundra. Some of these biomes can be further divided into more specific categories such as freshwater, marine, savanna, tropical rainforest, temperate rainforest and taiga.

Students did research on their assigned biomes in Andrea Walter’s fifth grade science class and created and constructed the dioramas in Michael Darpino’s art class at Polk Central.
