Polk Central principal Jan Crump has been named the next Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Polk County Schools.
Crump will replace current director Ronette Dill, who is moving into a new role with the district – funded by Polk County Community Foundation – to oversee grants and partnerships.
The changes for Crump and Dill will become effective August 1.
“Mrs. Crump brings a record of strong educational leadership, and we are fortunate to have her wealth of experience and expertise coming to our district office,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene. “She has always been dedicated to continuous improvement, and I am confident that Jan Crump will help our students, staff and schools grow and achieve.”
Crump has spent almost 30 years working in education, beginning her career as a classroom teacher before moving into administration. Her background includes two years as the human resources director for Burke County Schools and 18 years as an elementary school principal, the past six of those spent at Polk Central.
“For the past six years, it has been my honor and privilege to serve as the principal of Polk Central Elementary,” Crump said. “I am thankful for the relationships I have established with our school family and community during this time.
“I am thrilled to be continuing my employment with Polk County Schools in the capacity of Director of Curriculum and Instruction. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities this new position will bring. It is my absolute joy and privilege to be engaged with such an incredible school system and with all of our outstanding school employees.”
Dill has served in her current role since 2016. She has been with the district in a variety of roles for 30 years, including serving as principal at Saluda Elementary School.
“I feel we are very lucky to keep this amazing educator with us for a little longer in this new and important role,” Greene said. “Mrs. Dill has been a tremendous force in the Curriculum and Instruction position, and she accomplished so many wonderful things for our students and staff.
“Ronette truly made a difference in the quality of educational experiences afforded to our students and in the growth of our instructional staff. I look forward to her continuing to do more of that in her new spot for years to come.”
