The artwork of Polk Central third grader Emmalyn Rathbone has been chosen as one of 13 illustrations to be featured in a calendar offered by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Rathbone’s drawing will be the January 2018 illustration in this year’s Farm to School Calendar, which feature facts about agriculture in our state. More information about the calendar can be found here: http://www.ncfarmtoschool.com/htm/downloads/artcal.htm
More than 2,000 elementary school students across the state took part in this year’s competition.
Polk Central art teacher Michael Darpino led students in participating in the project.
Rathbone and her family attended a reception for the winners in Raleigh on May 19.
