Once again, members of the Polk County High School FFA Chapter had a strong showing in the North Carolina FFA Camp Program held in mid-June at White Lake.

The chapter had four teams competing: Black, Blue, Silver and White. Teams finished as follows: Blue 1st, Silver 5th White 6th and Black 7th. Polk Blue edged North Johnston High School for first place.

The camping program consisted of character building, leadership and recreational activities. Each day started with students taking part in devotional, flag-raising ceremonies and calisthenics. Next, students attended leadership sessions where they enhanced their interpersonal skills.

For the remainder of the day the students participated in competitive events including water sports (swimming, canoeing, water ball), basketball, volleyball, softball, horseshoes, shuffle board, checkers and table tennis. All activities were based on a point system and the team with the most points at the end of the week was declared the winner.

“I loved FFA Camp because we all got to compete together on a team in a variety of sports one last time,” said Caleb Potter.

“I loved making memories with all of my friends in such a beautiful place,” said Natalee Davis.

“The FFA was single-handedly the best thing I was a part of in high school, said Clark Phipps.
