Polk County Middle School

Polk County Middle School students will move to remote learning on Thursday, Jan. 14 and Friday, Jan. 15.

Individuals at PCMS have tested positive for COVID-19, and the resulting quarantines of staff members have created personnel shortages for the next two days. Thus there will be no in-person learning on Jan. 14-15, with all students taking part in remote learning.

In-person classes are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, Jan. 21 as Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 19-20, are already scheduled to be teacher workdays.

The investigation and contact tracing related to the positive tests have been completed, and any students who are considered close contacts will be notified with a phone call and message on Wednesday evening. Families who do not receive another call Wednesday evening from Polk County Schools have nothing else to do and their student may continue normal activities.

Families are asked to monitor the health of their students and do not allow them to attend school if they are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19.

Polk County Schools continues to follow the advice and protocol given to us by the Polk County Health Department for the notification and quarantining of close contacts, and the cleaning of school buildings. If you have any further questions, please contact the district office at 828-894-3051.
