A trio of Polk County band students earned selection to the Western Carolina All-District Clinic Band.

Sam Wilson and Gracie Edwards of Polk County Middle and Zetta Anderson of Polk County High finished as the highest-scoring students in their respective sections and earned a chance to perform with the clinic band, which gathered and performed in February at Western Carolina University.

Local band students took part in the clinic band tryouts earlier this year at Tuscola High School. Auditions are held for two to six judges, and each musician plays individually for that panel.

The students worked on scales, a required solo and sight reading for the auditions. There is a set number of seats for each instrument in the WNC All-District Band, and the top scores from each instrument list make the band for their individual instrument.
