More than 2,500 students wake up each morning to continue their educational journey with Polk County Schools and each day there are more than 350 faculty and staff who commit a great portion of their day to providing a high quality experience for our students.
Our early riser employees start buses, prepare meals and greet students as they get their day started. Throughout the day, teachers encourage, motivate and inspire students to grow. Nurses guide students on the road to health and wellness. Counselors help navigate the many ups and downs of student life. Maintenance and custodial crews keep the equipment and facilities safe and clean and office coordinators exercise their excellent communication skills with community members staff, families and students.
At the end of the day, our PEAK After School staff build positive relationships with our students and provide academic support through homework time.
The month of May includes National Teacher Appreciation Week and Polk County Schools sets aside the month to celebrate all of our employees who contribute so much to the education of our students. During our Educator Appreciation Month, our faculty and staff are treated with special lunches prepared by families and community members, local businesses extend special discounts for school employees and students and families share words of gratitude.
We appreciate each of our employees who play a role in the positive experience with our students and feel fortunate to have such a great community supporting us. We want to thank all of our local businesses who have offered discounts during May and prizes for educator appreciation drawings.
If your business would like to participate, please call the Personnel Department at 828-894-1001 for more information.
