Polk County Schools honored Keith Rimer as the district’s Teacher of the Year during the Polk County Board of Education’s regular monthly meeting on Monday at Stearns Education Center.
The board honored Rimer, who teaches construction at Polk County High School, as well as the 2019-2020 teachers of the year at other schools in the district. Teachers are chosen at each school by a vote of their peers before a committee selects the district honoree.
Rimer also received recognition for being the PCHS Teacher of the Year. Other teachers chosen as their school’s outstanding teacher included:
- Polk Central – Leann Wilson
- Polk County Middle – Matthew Russell
- Saluda – Christine McGee
- Sunny View – Genie Phipps
- Tryon – Jane Ollis
The board also recognized Sharon Johnston of Tryon Elementary as the Exceptional Children Teacher of the Year.
