Polk County Schools named safest N.C. district – and one of state’s best

Polk County Schools has been ranked as the safest school district in North Carolina – and one of its best overall – by a national website.

Polk County Schools has been ranked as the safest school district in North Carolina – and one of its best overall – in’s 2019 school rankings. ranks every school district and school in the country based on a combination of data and human reviews. The website then used a series of statistical techniques to produce rankings and grades for those schools.

Polk County Schools is ranked as the fourth-best school district in North Carolina. In addition to being ranked as the safest district for students, Polk County Schools also ranked as having the best teachers in the state and being the best district in which to teach of the state’s 115 districts.

“We are always pleased to receive notification that Polk County Schools has earned high ratings from an independent reviewer like Niche,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene. “It is encouraging to learn what others feel we are doing well, and it affords us an opportunity to identify those areas in which we need to improve.

“We must continue to work on school safety and building strong relationships with our community and support agencies. Any success we achieve results from the tremendous effort of our staff, hard work by our students and support and involvement from our families and community.”

“Polk County Schools is an amazing place for students to learn what they want to do for the rest of their life,” one reviewer wrote on the website. “Personally speaking I am impressed with the construction program at Polk County High School. The students are building houses and gaining money for the program so students can build more than just a small bird house.

“The students are learning what it’s like to be an actual carpenter. The carpentry teacher started a summer program where the students can work and get paid by learning on the job.”
