Polk County Schools is now accepting applications for its Polk County Virtual Academy for the upcoming academic year.
Families are encouraged to access the online application (Spanish version) and complete that as soon as possible for any student interested in attending the Virtual Academy this year. A separate application must be completed for each student interested in the Academy.
Any student who applies for and is accepted into the Virtual Academy will be required to remain there for a full semester. Students will not be allowed to transition to in-person learning until the start of the next semester or school year.
Each student’s performance and attendance in previous remote or virtual settings will be reviewed as part of the application process and could impact acceptance. Once students are accepted, families will be contacted by Polk County Schools regarding acceptance and placement.
Polk County Schools will be using a variety of online courseware and educational services to provide instruction to Academy students. Classes will either be self-paced or taught by instructors not associated with Polk County Schools. Students must sign up for at least a half-day of instruction.
The Academy is open to all students in grades K-12.
For questions about Virtual Academy, please contact Polk County Schools at 828.894.3051 and ask for either DeShane Briscoe or Aaron Greene.
