More than two dozen local employers and colleges spent Feb. 22 at Polk County Middle School, talking with eighth graders at the school’s Career Day, part of College and Career Week.
Some 18 businesses and six colleges filled the PCMS gym, offering tables where students could gain information about a variety of careers and learn about college opportunities in the community.
Several presenters had hands-on activities including trying on uniforms, equipment, learning how to pick up fingerprints, looking at an ambulance, brushing a horse or changing the tone of their voice to be a radio DJ.
Polk County Middle is always looking for more college and careers to educate students. If you would like to be involved, please contact one of the school counselors at 828-894-2215 or email Langlee Rogers lrogers@polkschools.org.
