Sixth graders in Amy Emery’s math class at Polk County Middle School recently explored ratios through the art of Sol Lewitt.
As a culminating activity for a unit on ratios, students created artwork based on Lewitt’s work. In 1968, Lewitt began creating sets of directions for his wall drawings. These directions included various mathematical concepts such as ratios, curves, lines, shapes and gradients.
PCMS students were given grids and four sets of directions to create their ratio art.
