Polk County Middle School’s innovative effort to help collect food for MANNA FoodBank did not go unnoticed.
The school recently won Most Creative honors for the fun activities that they held while taking part in MANNA’s 13th Annual Student Food Drive.
Schools across Western North Carolina took part in the Food Drive, resulting in 22,538 pounds of food being collected. That, plus $7,787 in donations, will mean almost 50,000 means will be available for MANNA to deliver.
A.C. Reynolds led all area schools with 17,931 meals.
Polk Middle collected 1,505 meals, and that plus the school’s week of activities relating to the event earned the Most Creative award. As MANNA noted in annoucing the honor:

MANNA officials will soon visit Polk County Middle School to present a plaque recognizing the school’s achievement.
