Tryon Elementary participated in National Anti-Bullying Month by setting aside the week of October 23 to be Anti-Bullying Week.
School guidance counselor Tamara Black discussed bullying with each class. Students were also challenged and encouraged to participate in a school-wide “Anti-Bullying Poster Contest”. The posters were displayed around the school and prizes were awarded for the most creative posters.

For this year’s culminating event, Tryon Elementary partnered with the Polk County High School boys soccer team to encourage students to “Kick Out Bullying.” Coach Josh Trejo and his players visited and talked with students about bullying, then participated in a friendly soccer match with the staff from Tryon Elementary.
