Staff from the Polk County Public Library recently visited Polk County Middle School to present a program and related activities on Cherokee Indian culture.
Students in Jeanne Ferran’s sixth grade English Language Arts class at PCMS have been studying Cherokee Indian culture, the language, storytelling and more. At the invitation of PCMS media specialist Laura Smith, library staff members Jen Pace Dickenson and Amelia Medrano visited to
Class members made medicine jars and corn husk dolls. Background information was provided and fun was had by all.
“I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with the public library,” Smith said. “They are awesome to work with!”
