Saluda fifth graders put new graphing skills to use

Fifth graders in Ginger Rackley’s class at Saluda Elementary recently ended their unit on Graphing Ordered Pairs with a game of Battleship

Fifth graders in Ginger Rackley’s class at Saluda Elementary recently ended their unit on Graphing Ordered Pairs with a game of Battleship.

In-person and remote students had to complete their coordinate grid and plot their five battleships. In-person students were paired with remote learners to play the game and the remaining in-person students were paired against each other.

Students shared a Google Doc with each other to guess the location of each other’s battleships and tell each other whether or not it was a hit or miss.

“It was a fun way for the students to review graphing ordered pairs,” Rackley said. “It was fun to watch the students develop their strategies and they were happy to sink each other’s battleships.”
