Saluda Elementary first graders in Ellen Rogers’ class prepared for the holidays by learning about the history of Christmas in the Appalachian Mountains.

With teacher help, students sewed trees, strung fresh cranberry garland and assembled buttons into the shape of trees.

Additional ornaments were made in art class with Wendy Berryhill and by Elf Rogers in one of Santa’s satellite workshops.

All of these traditionally styled decorations adorned the community (classroom) tree.
