First grade students at Saluda Elementary School recently assembled crafts and letters of thanks for members of the United States Air Force.
Robert “Mitch” Harrower, parent of a first grade student at Saluda and a recent Air Force retiree, spoke to the classes of Stephanie Fletcher and Gina Burnett for Veterans Day about his service to the country and the Air Force’s role in protecting the United States.
Following Harrower’s visit, students wrote letters of thanks and made crafts for active Air Force soliders. Those letters were presented to Harrower and then sent to members of the 366th Maintenance Squadron supporting the 389th Fighter Squadron (Thuderbolts) currently on deployment.
