Fourth grade students at Saluda Elementary recently worked on weathering starburst to demonstrate the rock cycle.
Students in Stephanie Uhrich’s class cut the starbursts into smaller and smaller bits (weathering them) and then they simulated erosion by pushing all the bits together. After doing this they cemented the rocks to form sedimentary rocks. Students then applied heat and pressure to form metamorphic rocks.
Finally, students watched a video about ingenious rocks – it was a “rocking” day for science!
