Students in Stephanie Uhrich’s class at Saluda Elementary recently enjoyed a fun hands-on learning experience involving genetic traits.
Saluda Elementary annual holds Science Night, but due to COVID-19 protocols, this year’s event had to be a bit different. Each grade level received a kit to practice a science concept in a hands-on way.
Students in the fourth grade created genetic trait bracelets based on recessive and dominant traits. They got one color of bead if they had a dominant trait and another if they had the recessive trait.
The students are also taking home a kit and will have family members take part so that they can compare their traits against those.
