Saluda fourth graders turn reading assignment into tableaus

Students in Ginger Rackley’s fourth grade classes at Saluda Elementary spent part of the first week of school creating tableaus based on books read in class.

Students in Ginger Rackley’s fourth grade classes at Saluda Elementary spent part of the first week of school creating tableaus based on books read in class.

The students had to pose silently to act out an event and show the character’s feelings in the work they read. Students had to think deeply about their characters to understand how they were feeling in the book.

“The tableau was fun to do because you got to do one scene from the story in your and your friends’ point of view combined,” said student Carina LeBude.

“I liked it because it was interactive and fun,” said student Clara Parris.
