Saluda Elementary School kindergarten students tried their hand at botanical photography this spring with exquisite results.
Ellen Rogers, a teacher assistant at the school, conducted the integrated art and science lesson made possible by funds from a Tryon Fine Arts Center Be Inspired Grant. Funds paid for professional prints, mat board for display and refreshments for an opening reception.
Each of the 13 students took photos using an iPhone SE. The images were then cropped and edited with the Apple photo tool before each student chose two of their photographs to be professionally printed.
The opening exhibit and reception of all 26 photos took place during Saluda Elementary’s Science Night on March 29. The photos continue to be on display through April 20.
