Second grade classes at Saluda Elementary School are participating in the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site Art Show from April 1 through May 15.
Students worked collaboratively in their general education classrooms and in art to create four pieces of artwork inspired by Carl Sandburg’s poetry. These pieces had to reflect movement as often seen in Sandburg’s poetry.
In addition, students studied his poetry and wrote poems similar to those written by the author.
The classes, taught by Christine McGee and Stephanie Fletcher, will be going on a field trip to his home in Flat Rock to see their displayed art in April.
