Second graders in Stephanie Fletcher’s class at Saluda Elementary have been exploring various Asian cultures through literature, music and art.
Students are gaining an appreciation for diverse cultures by learning about various cultural traditions and experiences.
In class, students read “Yoko” by Rosemary Wells, a great book about acceptance and friendship. Students also painted cherry blossom trees, which were mentioned in the story.
Students discussed the theme and summarized the story using the writing process. Finally, they enjoyed some “sushi” like Yoko!
