Students at Polk County Middle School recently read the book, Michael Vey: Prisoner of Cell 25, by Richard Paul Evans.
This is the first book in a seven-book series about 14-year-old Michael Vey who was born with special electrical powers.
As part of their study of the book, PCMS students recently gathered in the school media center with staff members from Polk County Public Libraries, who brought all supplies to make shrinky dinks, drawings or colorings on plastic that have been shrunken in an oven.
First, students designed their own super hero/villain emblem and listed their nemesis, powers and weaknesses. They took their completed emblem to library staff, who helped them create a shrinky dink from the emblem.
Once students completed the activity, they participated in fun relay races.
