Polk County High School and Polk County Middle School are preparing to welcome students back to campus for the first time since March, with the new school year set to begin August 24.

While the year may look differntly than others, PCHS Principal Dr. Brandon Schweitzer and PCMS Principal Todd Murphy are both excited to see their students and plan to do their best to serve their community.

Below you will find critical information in planning for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year for each school:

Important Dates

  • Friday, August 14th
    • Student schedules will be made available online through PowerSchool.  If you cannot access PowerSchool, please contact PCHS for assistance.
  • Thursday, August 20th
  • Monday, August 24th
    • First day of school!
  • Friday, September 4th
    • Last day to change student schedules

Important Information
General learning options descriptions.  The return survey is currently closed, however you may still contact PCHS about your decision for your student.  For specific questions and information about scheduling, please call and ask to speak to a counselor in our guidance office for assistance.

Transportation
Students intending to ride a school bus are asked to be out at their stop roughly 15 minutes prior to their pickup time from the year before.  Students who have not ridden a bus should contact their school for immediate assistance.

Virtual Day Schedule
  • Teachers available from 8-12 for office hours.
    • First Period: 8am-9am
    • Second Period:  9am-10am
    • Third Period:  10am-11am
    • Fourth Period:  11am-12pm
  • Afternoons for students: Independent study time and tutoring by appointment

Student population divided alphabetically by last name*
  • Group 1 – A through K
  • Group 2 – L through Z
* Changes to student groupings are only allowed for family members in the same household with different last names.  Changes will not be made for convenience purposes due to class size restrictions and capacity planning

Entrance Procedures

  • All students (car riders and bus riders) will enter through the bus door entrance. Students may arrive at 7:30 am and report directly to Homeroom.
  • Virtual Day- Teacher Office Hours
    Core 1- 8:00-8:50
    Core 2- 9:00-9:50
    Core 3-10:00-10:50
    Core 4-11:00-11:50
    Wheel-12:00-12:50
  • Afternoons for students: Independent study time, tutoring by appointment, parent meetings by appointment
