A number of Sunny View Elementary fifth graders enjoyed their “just desserts” to greet the new year.
In order to keep her students reading during the busy fall/winter holiday seasons, teacher Gina Kelly-Price challenged her students to read 40 books of specific, varied genres. They read poetry, science fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, folktales, fantasy, informational books and others.
Eight students completed the challenge, and on January 7, were treated to a special field trip to McDonald’s for a sweet treat along with outside playtime.
