Tryon Elementary students craft holiday cards for military members

The arrival of the Thanksgiving holiday offered a perfect opportunity for Tryon Elementary students to express gratitude to military service members.

The arrival of the Thanksgiving holiday offered a perfect opportunity for Tryon Elementary students to express gratitude to military service members.

Students wrote hundreds of cards that were sent to soldiers who will be deployed over the holidays as part of North Carolina Department of Instruction’s Holiday Cards for our Military Challenge.

Mandy Wolfe, a teacher at Tryon Elementary and the school’s military point of contact, coordinated the event.

“I am grateful for the number of classrooms who participated in the challenge,” Wolfe said. “Our students let their artistic abilities shine as they decorated cards and wrote heartfelt letters of appreciation to our military members.

“Our state has a strong military presence and this is a simple way to show our support.”
